Colonial uses Orbotech's Genesis 2000 CAM system, which offers
a variety of advanced pre-production capabilities, such as:
- automated panelization
- panel optimization
- ODB++ database import
- line/space optimization
- dynamic etch compensation
- drill/rout management
These cam seats feed a Silverwriter 8850P laser plotter by Mania Technologie.
The SilverWriter plots lines down to 10µm with a consistent line-width variation of
less than 2µm. This precision is achieved through Mania's unique syntactic
modulation backed by an Intelligent Processor Link (IPL). Developed between
Mania, Echo Graphic and Kodak to ensure ultra-stable developing conditions, IPL is
part of Mania's relentless pursuit of accuracy throughout the image generation
process.
The SilverWriter accepts plot instructions in DPF, ODB++, Orbotech and MDA
formats, fully automatically and without manual intervention.
For automated optical inspection, Orbotech's Discovery series AOI
unit provides inspection of phototools, etched panels, or
developed panels down to 30µm line/space.
